Brief History of the ISC (37)

Since January 2001, the ISC by redefining its mission, has been operating the following three programs.

1) Social Services for Individuals and Families. Consisting of Counseling, Language Support Services, Emergency Food Assistance and Information and Referral. These services are provided to all disadvantaged and underprivileged people, on a first come, first served basis, based on available resources. This Program is a collaborative mission of the Carlisle Presbytery, United Way of the Capital Region, Dauphin County, Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and the ISC.

2) Refugee Cultural Services Program. Consisting of Citizenship Assistance and Interpretation Services. These services are provided to all eligible refugees, entrants, asylees, Amerasians and certified victims of human trafficking. This Program is supported by funding from the Federal Office of Refugee Resettlement (US Department of Health & Human Services), administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.

3) Community Economic Development Program. Consisting of Fee-for-service activities such as Technical Assistance and Consultations, Immigration Guidance, Language Bank and Overseas Missions. These fees-for-services are offered through individual appointments or project contracts based on available resources generated by the Program.
