On April 5, 2024, our Afghan team participated in the Carlisle Chamber Career and Job Expo, a significant event aimed at connecting job seekers with employment opportunities offered by over 48 government and private agencies. The expo, sponsored by Allen Distribution, GIANT, and a few other companies, provided a platform for individuals to explore potential job openings across various sectors.

Overview:

Our team played a crucial role in facilitating communication for Afghan clients during their interactions with company representatives. Despite diverse job openings, many companies had specific requirements such as certification, English proficiency, CDL, and work experience. Most of our clients did meet the job requirements, however, Allen Distribution, UPMC, Carlisle Area School District, SYNERGY Home Center, and Dickinson College had positions suitable for some of our Afghan clients.

Outcomes:

The company has identified a discrepancy between the qualifications of its Afghan clients and the requirements set by many companies. Despite this, the companies are willing to consider candidates who demonstrate potential and a strong work ethic. The team has secured employment opportunities through communication with these businesses, regardless of limited English proficiency. The company will continue to provide comprehensive support to its Afghan clients throughout the application process, ensuring they are well-qualified and have a strong work ethic.
